This week has been surprisingly helpful in regards to figuring out what I truly want my capstone project to be. In class, we were asked to create a rough draft project brief of no more than 3 potential project topics. From last week, I narrowed down my 20 topics into 3 that I felt strongly about. These 3 were the creative thought journal/planner, a plant field guide, and an environmental experience for a coastal restaurant. After receiving some very helpful feedback from my classmates, I decided that I was most passionate about the plant field guide. I also really wanted to create something physical, so in this case, it is going to be a book. I also feel that this topic will be something that I will not get burnt out on and it excites me. I do think that my topic of “field guide” is a little broad so I am currently thinking about narrowing it down to either a specific species of plants (succulents and cacti) or houseplants in general. I think making the book about houseplants could be more engaging and would be considered more of a need rather than a book solely about succulents and cacti. Either way, I found this week very helpful because of the rough draft presentation we created as well as the feedback from classmates.
